Daniel Berger (Partner, EAC) gave a welcome note emphasizing the need for strategic evolution amidst evolving market challenges in China. 


Eric

Eric Luo (Partner, EAC)
delivered a keynote speech on Recalibrate your Strategies for Growth and Chartering New Horizon. He highlighted the following aspects:
deepening localization in different sectors and aspects to remain competitive
increasing local fund-raising opportunities to obtain sufficient funding and reinforce the competitiveness in the local market as well
He also introduced opportunities to deploy resources and analyzed the current situation of the capital market and the M&A market.


                                                          GlÜck

Dr. Ulrike Glueck (Chief Representative/Managing Partner, CMS China) gave a keynote speech on Optimizing Your Legal Set up in China. She introduced some main challenges which foreign invested companies are currently facing in China. Examples are complicated legal setup in China, less access to funding from abroad and how to keep pace with the China development speed, e.g. in R&D.
Solutions introduced were:
reducing the numbers of entities in China by combining them; this can be done in the form of a merger or by carving out business units and exiting through share transfer or asset transfer 
looking for alternative funding options, such as domestic loans, cash pooling and IPOs
for R&D, acquiring Start-ups or entering into R&D cooperations for specific products or specific areas with selected Chinese partners
