China-Germany FutureTech & Career Insights (24 October)

China-Germany FutureTech & Career Insights, held on 24 October in Reutlingen under the moderation of renown China-German Journalist and Author Felix Lee, was an engaging and interactive all-day event that brought together over 100 participants - experts, innovators, and talents from China and Germany to discuss industry and career developments. The event aimed to highlight an importance of dialogue and collaboration between China and Germany as both nations are considered to be front-runners in advancing future-tech.

The event was inaugurated by Lord Mayor of the city of Reutlingen Thomas Keck, and Klaus Zenkel, Vice-President of European Chamber of Commerce in South China, who emphasized strong links between the businesses in both countries and underlined emerging opportunities in building sustainable future.

Dr. Daniel Frerichs (Invest in Huangpu) and Dr. Hai Sun (Baden-Württemberg International) introduced the FutureTech regions of Baden-Württemberg and the Greater Bay Area, setting the stage for fruitful discussions.

The first part of the evet covered three panels focusing on hydrogen, modern automotive and biotech. The Hydrogen panel, moderated by Wolfgang Chen, CEO of 1W1, featured panelists Elmar Ockenfels (Port Antwerp-Bruges) and Thomas Roesch (REFIRE Europe). The Modern Automotive panel, moderated by Felix Lee, included Sigang He (CRRC), Christoph Kirsch (Bosch), and Thilo Ketterer (Rödl & Partner). The Biomedicine panel, moderated by Dr. Daniel Frerichs, saw contributions from Jiesi Chen (Creative Biosciences Europe), Jörg Zimmermann (Vetter Pharma), and Bettina Berendsen (formerly at Sartorius).

The second part of the day focused on the Innovation Stage, moderated by Yingyi Butter from Huayou, where LongAi, an innovative start-up from Shanghai, presented its advanced technology and outlined their talent expectations. Dr.-Ing. Elmar Stumpf introduced the CNBW and their innovative recruiting project. Attendees also benefited from a talk on startup mindset and skillset, empowering them with the knowledge essential for navigating the current entrepreneurial landscape. A career workshop organized by Anne Brouwer Evanno from ESSCA Business School provided valuable insights into building and practicing introduction pitches through storytelling techniques.
